Rhode Island Student Survey
Every other year, the Rhode Island Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities, and Hospitals (BHDDH) conducts the Rhode Island Student Survey (RISS). This survey collects data on middle and high school students throughout Rhode Island. Data collected from this survey is used to identify areas of need among students and to inform the allocation of resources for statewide and community-level prevention programs.
Below are four dashboards displaying data from the most recent 2024 RISS as well as trend data dating back to 2018, where applicable. The data is organized into four sections based on topic (Substance Use, Mental Health, Suicide, and Other Measures) and is broken down at the state, regional prevention coalition, town, and school level. Due to privacy concerns, town and school names are masked by a unique ID and are non-identifiable. These IDs are provided to authorized personnel only. Please read the About Page on each dashboard to learn more.
